VELOCITODDLER REDUX

2025

Velocitoddler was a unisex kidswear project I singlehandedly ran from 2012-2022. In its later years, I created the artwork, printed on GOTS-certified organic cotton, designed the clothing patterns, cut and sewed every garment by hand. I focused on storytelling, often illustrating subjects that were locally rooted, such as the silhouettes the dinosaurs that were found in New Mexico and a summer wet clothes line that was made of images I took around Albuquerque, NM.

In its first year, I worked at a pair of soft-soled shoes that were more durable and protective than other soft-soled shoes I regularly saw.

I sewed thousands of pairs of hoes over that decade. They were my favorite item, and after I shut down the business, I continued to think on them.

Enter Velocitoddler Redux. Handmade shoes and slippers, but with a major change. I am no longer making small batches.

Each pair is one of a kind, made from thrifted materials and leather.

My favorite thrifted materials to work with are vintage pants, thick old woven cotton button-downs, chubby corduroy, small cuts of fabric from quilting scraps, and denim.

If you have a small piece of fabric you’d like to turn into shoes for a baby you love, e-mail me at t@tabathahansen.com. Let’s make them.
